The Bruce Bartlett WSJ article discussed earlier is causing a stir amongst the blogs. Here's a snippet of what others are saying.
Scientologists like the FairTax, free-market economists do not*
kypundit at catallaxy.net does little more than repost the bulk of Bartlett's article.
The Oxymoronic "Fair Tax"**
Gus Van Horn at The Objectivism Metablog buys the Bartlett article hook-line-and-sinker. So much for being objective...
Bruce Bartlett debunks the “fair tax”
Brendan Steinhauser at FreedomWorks says Bartlett's article is a "good piece on the "fair tax". Steinhauser must know nothing of the FairTax himself, he simply cuts and pastes Bartlett's article.
WSJ Editorial: Fair Tax, Flawed Tax*
JLP at AllFinancialMatters comments on Bartlett's article and goes further by stating he supports the Flat Tax over the FairTax because the Flat Tax is regressive. Someone should let JLP know the FairTax is a flat tax... a flat tax on your consumption. The FairTax just takes it a step further by providing the prebate thereby making it truly regressive.
Bartlett on the Fair Tax Plan
E. Frank Stephenson at Division of Labor is a Flat Tax supporter as well but recognizes many aspects where Bartlett is wrong on the FairTax. He does take issue with the "rebate/personal allowance scheme". I'm really surprised how many people are against the prebate. I always thought that would be one of the best selling points.
